How would you describe your business?

We’re a small woodworking shop that only uses solid wood from FSC certified sources, usually white oak or walnut, but we can use any wood species you like. We offer a modular storage system that can be customized into whatever type of storage piece you’d like, but usually takes the form of bookshelves. All of our furniture is handmade out of our workshop in North Vancouver.

What was the inspiration to open your business?

I was frustrated by how difficult it was to find local furniture in solid wood, almost everything you see for sale is made overseas with MDF and veneers. Therefore, I decided to turn my woodworking passion into a full time job and design a system that was made of solid wood but would be cost competitive by designing it in a modular fashion.

What’s your bestselling product?

Our tall narrow bookshelf in white oak.

Why do you think it’s so popular?

I think part of the appeal is the versatility of the piece, we have two of them in our own dining room but I’ve seen it used in bedrooms, offices and living rooms as well. Like all of our pieces, it’s handmade in North Vancouver, using solid wood from FSC certified sources and can be customized.

What’s your favourite product from your own shop?

Our low bookshelf in walnut because it was the very first bookshelf we sold.

What’s your favourite local Vancouver shop?

United Strangers is a coffee shop and general store in Blueridge that always has unique items. I’ve bought many gifts there 🙂
