What inspired you to start your business?

A chickadee flew into my window one day and needed help to recover. I fell in love with wild birds from that day forward.

How would you describe your business?

All of my feeders are meticulously handmade using only premium, filler-free bird food. My unique seed characters are crafted using molds designed exclusively in-house. It always brings me immense joy to see the delight and surprise on people’s faces when they receive one of my feeders as a gift.

In the coming months, I’m excited to introduce a new line of modern, eco-friendly bird feeders made from recycled plastic. Additionally, my bird seed bags will be nitrogen-filled to preserve the seeds and extend their shelf life. The nitrogen displaces oxygen within the bag, creating a sealed environment that prevents oxidation and mold growth. This innovative approach ensures the seeds remain fresh and high-quality, while minimizing spoilage.

As you can see from the details above, I am deeply committed to prioritizing quality over quantity. A principle that will always remain at the core of everything I do.

Why do you think it’s so popular?

Owls have been super trendy for the past few years. The fact that its handmade and fully edible also ads to the cool factor when looking to purchase a bird feeder as a gift.

What’s your favourite product that you make?

My personal favourite is Birdzy Butter. I am currently developing a feeder specifically designed to use this “peanut butter” style food for birds that attaches to my window. The reason I love it so much is because I get to see the birds up close and personal and they absolutely love it.

What’s your favourite Ottawa shop?

My favourite local business has to be Paper Papier. I am a sucker for gift shops.
