What inspired you to start your business?

We enjoy a good quality cocktail / mocktail and have made our own bitters for years. We have had difficulty in the past sourcing good quality cocktail bitters and during the pandemic we decided it was time to share our passion with others.

How would you describe your business?

At Blue Coast Bitters, we create our award-winning cocktail bitters in small batches to maintain a rich quality flavor profile. Using only natural ingredients, we infuse them in a pure spirits base—free from artificial additives, preservatives, GMOs, fragrances, or colors. Whenever possible, we locally source or forage our ingredients.

Every step of our process is done by hand, from production and infusion to bottling, labeling, capping, and packaging. Our dedication to craftsmanship is reflected in every bottle we make.

What’s your bestselling product & why do you think they’re so popular?

Our Sample Sets, which contain our 4 most popular flavours – orange, coffee, maple and lavender. Each flavour comes in a 15 ml dropper bottle.

Our Sample Sets are great for anyone new to the world if bitters. It allows them to sample a variety of flavours without committing to purchasing full size bottles (which are 60 ml).

What’s your favourite product from your own shop?

Our personal favourite is our Northern Attitude Maple Bitters. Our Maple Bitters are great in many different cocktails, mocktails, but also perfect for adding to your morning coffee, our substituting for vanilla extract in a favourite cookie recipe.

What are your favourite local Ontario businesses?

We have many, but some of our favourites include Lake Life Studio, Oil Town Brewing (a Canadian hot sauce brand), River Bank & Co, and Point Brewing.
