What inspired you to start your business?

I had been looking for a coffee alternative after years of getting the jitters, anxiety and heartburn from traditional coffee. I discovered that a neuroscientist, biochemist and immunologist in my home town had created an herbal formula that when infused into traditional coffee would slow the release of caffeine and lower the acidity. I could now drink real caffeinated coffee that was delicious, while also feeling great! I bought the company in 2021 with a mission to not only reduce the negative effects of caffeinated coffee but encourage people to return to traditional coffee culture, slowing down themselves, reconnecting with others, being a part of community and enjoying really good coffee.

How do you describe your brand?

Cafézia blends ingredients that make your coffee taste and feel better, with values that nurture community, connection and well-being. We make delicious packaged coffee that’s infused with health and mood boosting herbs and promote a lifestyle that’s slower, healthier, more enjoyable and engaged with the world around us.

What’s your bestselling product & why do you think it’s so popular?

Our medium ground coffee is our best seller.

I think people love the diversity of the flavour. It pairs well with breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert, and also holds its own as a ride-along in the car or bathside drink. The packaging colours also seem to be a favourite!

What’s your favourite product from your own shop?

Dark ground is my absolute favourite! It has the bold flavour you want in the morning, as well as that weighted depth you want when you’re curled up reading under a blanket later in the day.

What’s one of your favourite local shops?

I have to pick one?! I’ll have to give a shout out to my bestie Mystery, owner of Granny P’s.
