What inspired you to start your business?
Graham Watts is a landscape artist who specializes in wildlife and local scenery of Vancouver, Whistler, and the Sea-to-Sky corridor. I’ve always had a deep passion for nature, wildlife, and the stunning landscapes around Vancouver, Whistler, and the Sea-to-Sky corridor.
Seeing my work resonate with people, not just locally but across Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, motivated me further to establish my art as a business. It’s incredibly rewarding to know my paintings help connect people with the natural beauty around us, encouraging appreciation, inspiration, and even conservation of these precious environments.
How do you describe your brand?
My art studio revolves around creating original, nature-inspired landscape and wildlife oil paintings, deeply rooted in the breathtaking beauty of Vancouver, Whistler, and the Sea-to-Sky corridor. Each artwork I produce is meticulously hand-painted using high-quality oil paints on canvas, carefully chosen for their vibrant colours, rich textures, and lasting luminosity.
My artistic process begins long before the brush touches the canvas—I spend extensive time outdoors, immersed in nature, experiencing the landscape firsthand. I carefully observe details like lighting, scale, colours, and textures, but above all, I strive to capture the emotions and energy that each location evokes. My style uniquely balances fine detail with expressive, interpretive elements, offering viewers an immersive, emotional experience rather than simply a visual representation.
My artwork is designed to inspire conversation and reflection, drawing collectors and viewers into a shared appreciation for the wilderness.
Whether investing in an original piece, commissioning custom art, or acquiring limited-edition prints, collectors know they’re obtaining thoughtfully crafted, unique artwork designed to resonate deeply and last for generations.
What’s your bestselling product?
My bestselling product is commissioned original oil paintings. Collectors consistently choose commissioned artwork because it offers a deeply personal and meaningful connection to the piece. Through commissions, clients collaborate directly with me, sharing their vision, favorite locations, or special memories they wish to capture. This process results in a one-of-a-kind masterpiece tailored specifically to their tastes and personal experiences.
Commissioned artwork not only allows collectors to participate actively in the creative journey, but it also ensures a unique, handcrafted piece that becomes a cherished part of their homes and lives.
Why do you think it’s so popular?
I believe commissioned original oil paintings are incredibly popular because they offer something uniquely personal, meaningful, and deeply emotional for each collector. Every piece is a collaborative journey—a one-of-a-kind creation that captures a special place, memory, or story important to the client. This personalized connection elevates the artwork beyond mere decoration; it becomes a lasting treasure with emotional resonance that continues to grow over time.
Clients consistently express that the finished commissions exceed their expectations because the art not only beautifully represents the landscape or wildlife they love but genuinely captures the feeling and essence of their memories.
