What’s the inspiration behind starting Birch Babe?
Six years ago, Birch Babe’s founder Debbie embarked on a transformative journey, hiking solo from the southern tip of Patagonia to the northern tip of Chile. This adventure ignited a deep commitment to both personal wellness and environmental care. Upon returning home, Debbie left her job, relocated to a cottage, and began crafting clean, sustainable skincare and body products.
Motivated by her passion, Debbie pursued further education, earning two degrees as an Organic Skincare Formulator even at the age of 60. In 2020, during the pandemic, Debbie’s daughters, Kelsey and Lindsay, joined forces with her, transforming Birch Babe into a 100% female and family-owned business.

Birch Babe, an award-winning, female and family-led company (mom and two daughters), offers a range of 60+ certified all-natural, vegan, and cruelty-free skincare and clean beauty products.
Handcrafted in Ontario near Bon Echo, our products are formulated using Ecocert, Fairtrade, organic and certified natural ingredients. Sustainability is at the forefront of everythig we do and we proudly package everything in glass, aluminum, and 100% recycled kraft paper.
Birch Babe products are made in small batches, overseen by our Lead Organic Skincare Formulator and tested by our lab partners.
We’re proud to offer one of Canada’s few 100% Mineral Sunscreens with an NPN #. Plus, we’ve just launched Birch Baby for newborns because we believe in starting natural skincare from day one.
Birch Baby products are dermatologist-tested, hypoallergenic, chemist-approved, EWG Verified, and packaged in 100% PCR Plastic, with 1% of sales going to The David Suzuki Foundation.

We like to say we make ‘high quality skincare for the low maintenance babe” and so the above are all top sellers because they’re not only safe, effective and packaged sustainably but a little goes a long way!
And the results are noticeable! Our “Golden Hour Vitamin C Brightening Serum” for example was just featured at the top of the list in FASHION as “Plumping Beauty Products That Deliver Instant Results’.
Our products last, you don’t need a lot or a 8 step skincare routine and people notice that their skin not only looks better but FEELS better within a day of using it which is most important to us!
What’s your personal favourite product?
Eeeekkk!! Such a hard question! Definitely the Natural Glow Face Serum. I use is morning and night and can’t leave the house for a trip without it. It’s also the product that I gift to friends that converts them to Birch Babe. HAHA! I had two friends who don’t know each other text me that it was like “crack for their skin”.
