Products Include: Handmade Canadian dog bandanas in seasonal designs or year-round fabrics
What inspired you to open your shop?
When I got my new golden retriever puppy Huxley, I loved dressing him up in cute bandanas and accessories. I was finding that most of the super cute ones and/or original ones I was finding were in the US and either didn’t ship to Canada, or shipping fees were really high, so I decided to start making him my own. I was getting so many compliments on them I decided to start making them for friends pets too, and it kind of grew from there!
How would you describe your business?
I make dog bandanas and bows, and crowns, and will be also adding capelets to my collection in the new year (which I’m really excited about). All the materials are purchased from Canadian stores local to me. My hand embroidering is all self taught. I’ve always like knitting and cross stitch so decided to give it a go!
What’s your best selling product and why is it so popular?
Definitely my monogrammed initial bandana.
I think what makes my bandanas a little extra special is that I hand embroider them. It takes me a little longer than a machine one might, but it means every one has a personal touch and hopefully creates an heirloom that can be worn and treasured for years to come!
What’s your favourite product from your own shop?
I really love the monogrammed bandanas. There’s just something extra special about them. Especially the plaid one we did for Christmas. I try to to at least one monogrammed style for each season.
What’s your favourite local Ottawa business?
Ooh so many to choose from. I’d have to say Barkers Bakery. They make Huxleys first birthday cake and it was amazing!
