Nariyal – Vancouver, BC
Nariyal is a sustainable Canadian brand based in Vancouver, BC. They repurpose discarded coconut waste to create unique products like bowls & spoons.
What inspired you to start your business?
The inspiration behind Nariyal came from a desire to repurpose discarded coconut waste that would otherwise end up in landfills and turn them into daily use products that are both functional and sustainable. It’s not just about selling products but also in creating an initiative that encourages people to choose natural, ethical, and environmentally responsible alternatives in their daily lives.
How do you describe your brand?
Nariyal is a sustainable brand dedicated to transforming discarded coconut waste into beautiful, functional everyday products. We specialize in creating eco-friendly alternatives to common household items, exclusively from coconut waste such as discarded coconut shells, reclaimed wood from fallen coconut trees, and other natural materials that would otherwise go to waste. Our mission is to reduce pollution, promote mindful consumption, and support a circular economy where waste is repurposed into something valuable.
What makes Nariyal unique is our commitment to craftsmanship and sustainability at every stage of production. For instance, our coconut bowl is carefully hand-cut, sanded, and polished by skilled artisans, preserving the natural shape and texture of the coconut shell. Our cutlery and accessories are crafted from reclaimed coconut wood, ensuring that no trees are cut down in the process. All our products are non-toxic and safe to be used around kids and pets.
Our background is rooted in a passion for circular design and ethical sourcing, combining modern sustainability practices with age-old craftsmanship. We work closely with artisans who have years of experience in woodworking and natural material processing, training them in refining and enhancing these materials without the use of harmful chemicals. This approach not only gives new life to discarded coconut waste but also helps sustain artisan communities by creating fair-wage opportunities.
Additionally, Nariyal continuously experiments with innovative ways to expand the use of coconut-based biomaterials, pushing the boundaries of sustainable product design. Our focus is not just on making eco-friendly alternatives but on redefining how everyday essentials can be made with minimal environmental impact.
What’s your bestselling product & why do you think it’s so popular?
Our bestselling product is the Regular Coconut Bowl; a beautifully handcrafted bowl made from discarded coconut shells.
Our Regular Coconut Bowl is popular because it combines sustainability, craftsmanship, and functionality in a way that resonates with eco-conscious consumers. Made from discarded coconut shells, each bowl is carefully hand-cut, sanded, and polished by skilled artisans, preserving the natural shape and grain of the shell. This ensures that no two bowls are identical, giving each one a unique, rustic charm. Unlike mass-produced alternatives, our bowls are 100% natural, biodegradable, and free from plastics or harmful chemicals, making them a safe and eco-friendly choice for everyday use.
Our customers love its versatility, durability, and eco-friendly appeal, making it perfect for smoothie bowls, salads, and other meals. Not only does it reduce waste by repurposing wasted coconut shells, but it also brings a touch of nature into everyday dining.

Made from reclaimed coconut wood, it ensures that no trees are cut down in the process, making it an eco-friendly alternative to plastic or metal cutlery. The natural grain and rich texture of the wood give each spoon a unique, earthy look that stands out.
Beyond its aesthetics, the Coconut Wood Spoon is incredibly durable, lightweight, and comfortable to use. It’s perfect for everything from stirring coffee to eating smoothie bowls, adding a touch of nature to everyday meals. The best part is that it’s completely biodegradable, toxin-free, and handcrafted, making it a simple yet meaningful way to embrace a sustainable lifestyle.
