What inspired you to start your business?

I’ve always dreamed of starting a company that supports small communities by helping them make a sustainable living through their fantastic traditional skills. I was born and raised in Peru, a beautiful country which has such vibrant culture and amazing traditions, I am excited to share a bit of my rich heritage with others.

How would you describe your business?

We are a company that believes in slow fashion , our products are crafted to last and are made to be cherished. We genuinely care about sustainability sourcing our products from family based artisan projects all over Peru. Some of our creations feature ancient techniques while others blend the old with a modern twist. We work with artisans spread across different regions of the country, each with their own unique craft. Those in the Andes focus on working with alpaca and sheep wool, while our Coastal artisans create wonderful items from wood, gemstones, cotton, and more. Together they allow us to access to a nice variety of products, including clothing, home decor, jewelry, leather accessories and yarn.

What’s your bestselling product & why do you think it’s so popular?

Urma Alpaca Silk Shawl.

Our Shawls are made from a lovely blend of baby alpaca wool and silk, giving them a a gorgeous shine and a super soft, lightweight feel. They’re perfect for chilly days and evenings out and you can wear them in so many fun ways like an oversized scarf!

What’s your favourite product from your own shop?

I absolutely love the Sonqo Alpaca Ruana! Not only is it made from my favorite fiber, Alpaca, but it’s also handcrafted by a talented group of women artisans from the Peruvian Andes. Each Ruana and Poncho takes up to 7 days to create, it really shows how much love and dedication goes into each piece. Plus Ruanas are like open ponchos, so there are several ways to style them.

What’s your favourite local shop?
