What inspired you to start your business?

Poppermost was born out of a lifelong love of pop culture and all things retro and nostalgic. I grew up as a kid in the ’90s, but thanks to my parents, I was also raised on a steady diet of great oldies music and classic films from an early age. That mix of influences shaped my creative style and passion. Poppermost is truly the embodiment of everything I love—celebrating iconic moments, unforgettable characters, and the timeless vibe of pop culture through bold, playful, and nostalgic designs.

How do you describe your business?

Poppermost is a pop culture–inspired brand that’s all about fun, nostalgia, and celebrating the stuff we grew up loving. I make art prints, cards, and gifts that give a little nod to everything from retro movies and TV shows to old-school music and 90s kid memories. I was raised in the ’90s, but as the youngest of 5 kids, I also grew up with a healthy appreciation of 70s and 80s pop culture — so those influences naturally made their way into my work.

All of my designs are created digitally and printed by hand using high-quality archival paper and rich, vibrant inks. I want each piece to feel playful, bold, and full of personality—something that’ll spark a memory or make someone say, “Hey, I remember that!”

I studied graphic design at Mohawk College in Hamilton, and that training gave me a solid foundation, but honestly, a lot of what I do now is self-taught and constantly evolving. I’m always learning new techniques and staying up to date with current design techniques.

What makes Poppermost unique is that it’s really just a reflection of everything I love. It’s personal, it’s fun, and I think that comes through in the designs. It’s less about chasing trends and more about capturing that warm, familiar feeling of nostalgia in a fresh, modern way.

What’s your bestselling product & why do you think it’s so popular?

Our current bestselling product is our classic video game controller evolution print!

I think this particular design resonates with people who grew up in the early days of gaming (think Atari and the original NES). The print showcases how the aesthetics of gaming has evolved over the years, and I think it evokes a sense of familiarity and brings back a lot of memories for us Millenials and Gen Xers. When I look at this print, I’m immediately 6 years old playing Duck Hunt and Paper Boy in our family living room. 🙂

This print was designed and digitally rendered by me, and is printed to order on high quality fine art paper with a matte finish.

What’s your personal favourite product?

My current favourite product is the brand new Canadiano print. I love it because it pays homage to the rubber hose style animation from the 20s and 30s – it taps in to that vintage feel-good charm that I think we could all use more of right now, and it’s just a super fun design that highlights our beautiful Canadian values in a way that’s fun and unique. I truly hope our customers will love it as much as I do!

What’s your favourite local Ontario business?

Maker House Co in Ottawa. They carry an enormous selection of beautiful hand-crafted Canadian goods from small businesses around the country. They’ve also been a loyal stockist of Poppermost and have really helped our business reach more customers.
