Samson’s Daughter Coffee

Samson’s Daughter is a Canadian coffee brand and Burlington, ON shop offering locally roasted coffee.

How do you describe your brand?

Our coffee isn’t just made for drinking, which is why we made a conscious effort to select premium, high-quality beans with tasting notes that complement different recipes perfectly. We want our customers to explore coffee beyond the cup, experiment with different brewing methods, and discover that great coffee doesn’t have to follow strict brewing techniques to be delicious and enjoyable.

We work with a private local roaster that shares our values to select high-quality beans but to also source coffee sustainably and give back to local communities. It was important to us to work with a roaster who prioritizes small, family-owned farms while also reinvesting in the surrounding farming communities. As a former barista, I knew that working with a supplier who aligns with our values and upholds the highest quality standards was one of the most important aspects of our business. We hope that our coffee reflects those values and that our customers can taste the difference.

What inspired you to open your business?

After working as a barista for several years, I developed a deep love and appreciation for coffee. But I’ve also always loved cooking and baking and wanted to highlight coffee as more than just a drink, but as an ingredient you can use in many different recipes.

To me, coffee reminds me of so many different memories—like sharing coffee after a meal at the dinner table, grabbing a coffee before a road trip or enjoying a cup on a crisp morning by the lake. All of these moments remind me of my late father and I knew I always wanted to name my business after him. I wanted to honour his memory by naming and designing our roasts after things he loved and cherished in his lifetime, but also to share my own story and passions through our thoughtful packaging design.

What’s your bestselling product & why do you think it’s so popular?

It’s surprisingly a close tie between our Angler light roast and our Boulangerie dark roast.

Our customers know what they like. Some of our customers prefer a smooth, light coffee that doesn’t taste too heavy or strong and opt for Angler as their go-to introduction to our collection. While, others are on the complete opposite side and go for the rich, robust Boulangerie dark roast right away. We’d like to think it’s also the packaging design that appeals to some of our customers.

What’s your favourite product from your own shop?

Roadtrip Espresso! It’s perfectly balanced. It’s creamy and smooth, but also has some bright fruity notes and makes for a really delicious and rich espresso. I also love brewing this one as a pour-over as well.

What’s your favourite local Ontario business?

iDrinkCoffee in Milton is a fantastic company. They have amazing customer service and a great selection of coffee brewing tools and equipment. They also have a great rewards/points system and often have discounts and deals. I highly recommend them for any coffee enthusiasts.
