What inspired you to open your shop?

My journey into natural skincare began when my daughter, Sierra (aka SiSi), was a baby. She had a stubborn diaper rash that just wouldn’t go away, no matter what my husband and I tried. Frustrated with the options available, we decided to research natural remedies. We created a balm using gentle, skin-nourishing oils, beeswax and herbs found at our local health food store, and to our amazement, her rash improved after just one diaper change and completely cleared within 24 hours.

Seeing such incredible results, we shared the balm with friends and family, who quickly became our first customers. Receiving positive feedback encouraged us to make it available to other parents like us. Then before I knew it, I was on a mission to create more skincare products that were not only natural but truly effective. That passion led me to study herbalism, skincare formulation, and ingredient science, and today, SiSi Georgian Bay offers a full line of products designed to nourish and care for the skin – just like our very first product – bay balm – did for my daughter.

SiSi Georgian Bay is a natural skincare brand dedicated to creating high-quality, skin-loving products using thoughtfully sourced natural and naturally derived ingredients. Every product is handcrafted in small batches to ensure freshness, quality, and effectiveness. What sets us apart is our commitment to both tradition and innovation. I began this journey by studying herbalism and later expanded my expertise through professional training in natural skincare formulation. I continue to research and stay up to date on the latest ingredients and advancements in skincare science to provide customers with truly effective, nourishing products. We carefully select botanicals, plant-based oils, butters, and active ingredients that support skin health, always prioritizing efficacy and safety. From antioxidant-rich plant extracts to moisture-boosting elements like hyaluronic acid – and even bakuchiol, a natural retinol alternative – every formula is designed with purpose. In addition to prioritizing high-quality natural ingredients, we are also mindful of sustainability. We use amber glass bottles and eco-friendly packaging wherever possible to minimize waste and support a greener future.

My favourite local business is Georgian Bay Whole Foods in Parry Sound. This shop has been a cornerstone of the community since the 1970s, providing health foods, supplements, wellness products, and more. It’s more than just a store – it’s an iconic local business that has been helping people make healthier choices for generations.

Georgian Bay Whole Foods holds a special place in my heart because it’s where I purchased the very first ingredients to make what would become our best-selling Baby Balm.
